DRTM – a Robotic Automated Manufacturing Process for the Production of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Parts

DRTM a new robotic automation process for the production of composite components, which uses dry fiber prepreg, is a cost-quality effective process developed and patented by Delta Vigo.

The process can effectively improve the quality and productivity (more than AC per month) of the aerospace industry and meet the highest customer requirements.

In the hard structure field, the process can be used in any kind of structure, such as wing beam, wing rib, wing longitudinal beam, fuselage, double curvature wing wall plate, and so on with ⼀ integrated fasteners and through a molding process manufacturing structural parts (such as fuselage shell, door, fan fairing).

For the fuselage, through robotic automation systems, the technology ensures repeatable, reliable and accurate production:

1. Optimizes the direction/twist of fiber in the whole fuselage

2. No folds, downs, and prepreg defects

3. Flexibility, from fiber direction to ply order

4. Flexibility to combine transverse and longitudinal reinforcements, but no increase in thickness

5. Longitudinal rebound control , and correction, the company’s approach can be applied to the complex fuselage
