DymPet: the Ultimate Surface Protection Material for FRP Products

DymPet is a needle felt made of polyester fibers without chemical binder, the Dymriton range of surfacing tissue. Applied in close molding processes. Suit for  Infusion Vacuum RTM, Light RTM.

It is used to improve surface cosmetics, create better chemical resistance or reduce the abrasion of composite structures.

The Surface Protection Material

In the industry of FRP products, there are a lot of reasons. DymPet is the best suitable & applied before processing actual constructive laminate:

Improved cosmetics

Greater chemical resistance

Reduced abrasion of molds

Each DymPet product has specific properties that make it suitable for specific processes & applications.

DymPet Feature

Dymriton DymPet is a surfacing tissue that, because of its structure, creates a resin-rich layer during infused(tissue covers surfaces and lines cavities of mold). Applies product surface more bright, smooth, and without fiber print.

Eg: It prevents fiber print-through from glass fibers. Used from truck cabins, which are made with continuous filament mat in RTM, and are painted afterward.

The DymPet is used to improve cosmetics, reduce the abrasion of molds to enhance chemical resistance.

Cover fiber print

Apply a resin-rich layer

Reduce the abrasion of molds

Easy to process

Smooth & right product surface

No fiber print& air bubble product surface

Becomes translucent in resin

Prevent fiber resistance

Print shows through infusion vacuum

Composite material laminates in Hand Lay-up differ in many ways when compared to laminates by Infusion vacuum. By laminate thickness, glass percentages, resin consumption, and mechanical properties in different shows.

As for the higher pressure in infusion vacuum compared to hand lay-up, This laminate is compressed more resulting in a thinner laminate with less resin, a higher volume fraction of glass, and higher mechanical properties.

This is an increased risk of osmosis and an increased risk of printing through fabrics and fibers. From now on, these issues can be solved.

Generally, this important DymPet shows as a surface tissue is applied to block most of the print through. After the final laminate is vacuum infused, the pressures can still print through some heavy fabrics to the outer surface of the laminate. This can be prevented easily by using DymPet surface veil in vacuum infusion.

DymPet Cover fiber print

Generally, DymPet is applied right against the gel coat in an infused laminate process which reduces fiber print-through and is often used in combination with other reinforcement material applied against the product surface.

The most important advantage of DymPet is that it reduces fiber print-through of glass fibers on the surface. It creates a better surface quality: Smooth & bright without print.

If painted, less treatment is necessary. DymPet can be used in combination with a gel coat or as a top layer only with resin together.

Chemical resistance

The best laminate surface finish will be achieved when DymPet is applied in the mold with chemical resistance by creating a resin-rich layer.

Cover fabric stitching yarn

It is often used in closed mold processes where the soft DymPet is applied directly against the mold or gelcoat to prevent stitching yarn from fabric & holes from core fabric. Applies you to an excellent surface finish.

How is the difference show

DymPet is a nonwoven surfacing veil composites, because of its structure, it covers the print, and creates a resin-rich layer when infused. The surface effect is better more than without using this material. The following photos show the different treatment results from using and not using the DymPet.

The surface shows the fiber print (without DymPet)

This finish product surface has a fiber print and rough show.

Surface shows bring & No fiber print (with DymPet)

No fiber print show on the product, it looks more bright & smooth during touch-on it.

Because of DymPet covers fiber print, absorbs resin, and forms a resin-rich layer, The high reflection from resin applied for surface show more bright.

DymPet Color

Generally, The color is white also very common in the majority of products. But other colors are available for special requirements & products.

The regular color of DymPet is kept the same as Gelcoat, or by custom appointment.

White

This is the most customer uses this color. Nearly all products suited this color if no other special request.

Black

This color is to meet with the final product surface color.

Other Color

Other colors are also available, we could apply a base to the customer’s request.

DymPet Application

DymPet is a none chemical bond polyester tissue with good tensile properties and creates a chemical barrier & surface finish, which makes it suitable for the close molding process.

Resin Transfer Moulding

Dympet was paved directly to the mold cavity, afford product surface is smooth & bright on both sides.

Infusion Vacuum

DymPet was paved direct to the mold cavity, afford the product surface is smooth & bright on both sides.

DymPet was applied directly against the silicone mold and cover fiber print-through from glass fiber.

Infusion Bagging

DymPet was put directly against the bagging and creates an excellent surface finish.
