Innovation Redefined: Harnessing the Power of Polypropylene for Unmatched Closed Mold Performance

This is a specialized type of reinforcement designed for use in Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), which is a technique for injecting resin into a closed mold. The reinforcement is highly deformable, which makes it able to adapt to the shapes and corners of the mold.

The standard product is composed of a central core made of “nonwoven” polypropylene fiber and one or two layers of 5cm chopped glass fibers (stitched mat), which are sewn together with polyester thread. This creates a composite material that allows resin to flow successfully through the mold.

The weight of the center polypropylene core can be 120, 180 or 250 grams per square meter (g/m²), while the weight of each of the two stitched mat layers can be from 150 to 2000 g/m². The most commonly used weights are 300, 450, or 600 g/m² for each layer.

The standard width of the product is 125cm, but it can be made to order in widths ranging from 5 to 250cm, with length tailored to the customer’s needs. The product is packaged according to customer requirements and comes with a standard cardboard mandrel with inner diameters of 77, 100, or 156mm.

The product can also be manufactured using ECR fiber, which is free of boron.
