Reinforcement Material: Chopped Strand Mat

Chopped Strand Mats are created by cutting glass fibers into short pieces and arranging them randomly. The fibers are then held together with a binder made of either emulsion or powder, which gives the mat specific properties. The binder makes up 3.3-6% of the mat’s total weight.

Both types of chopped strand mats can be easily saturated with styrene. They are commonly used for hand lay-up and continuous processes, and are used to make laminated products for various industries, transportation, leisure, and sports.

Emulsion chopped strand mats are suitable for products that don’t require high levels of transparency, while powder chopped strand mats are best for products with complicated shapes that need to be transparent.

If you’re interested in a particular type of chopped strand mat, we would be happy to send you samples along with our offer upon request.
