What Are The Advantages of RTM Process?

 

The RTM process is currently the composite material molding process with the best comprehensive indicators. Compared with other molding processes, it has the following advantages.

 

(1) Small operating space is required, the utilization rate of raw materials is high, and the basic investment and production cost are low.

 

(2) The surface quality of the product is good, the finish is good, the dimensional accuracy is high, and the porosity is low (less than 0.5%).

 

(3) Various forms of reinforcing materials can be used, such as non-directional materials, textile fibers and woven fabrics, and the fiber content used can be as high as 50%~60% (mass fraction). It is suitable for composite material molding with thick three-dimensional fabrics as reinforcements.

 

(4) The product design has a large degree of freedom. From this point of view, the RTM process is not only superior to the autoclave molding process, but also superior to the filament winding molding process and the extrusion molding process.

 

(5) The curing process is simple, and there is no requirement for pressure maintenance and degassing.

 

(6) The mold and product can be designed by computer-aided design, which greatly shortens the update cycle. The mold can be made of a variety of materials and is easy to manufacture.

 

The molding process is carried out under closed conditions, which can reduce the harm of harmful components to the human body and the environment.
