PAN Surfacing Veil

PAN Surfacing Veil (DymPan) is a needled felt made of polyacrylonitrile fibers. Applied in RTM processes, like vacuum infusion, RTM light, and RTM. It prevents fiber print-through from glass fibers. For instance, It is used for truck cabins, which are made with a continuous filament mat in RTM, and are painted afterward.

“PAN Surfacing Veil is a nonwoven tissue of polyacrylonitrile. The standard width is 1.0 m, max-width is 2.6m, but is available in other widths on request.”

DymPan is applied right against the gel coat in an infused laminate. It reduces fiber print-through and is often used in conjunction with Strong Core Felt applied against the skin coat. The most important benefit of DymPan is that it reduces fiber print-through of glass fibers on the surface. This means a better surface quality. If painted, less treatment is necessary. DymPan can be used in combination with a gel coat or as a top layer without a gel coat.

– DymPan is heat resistant and can be applied in pre-forming processes.

– The refraction index of the PAN fibers in DymPan is the same as the refraction of polyester resin. This means that the fibers are not visible in the resin.
