Heat-Resistant Aramid Felt
Aramid fibers are a type of synthetic fiber that is both heat-resistant and strong. They are commonly used in aerospace and military applications, as well as for making body armor fabric and composite materials that are designed to withstand ballistic impacts. Aramid fibers are also used in bicycle tires and are a popular alternative to asbestos. The name “aramid” is a combination of “aromatic” and “polyamide”. The fibers are highly oriented along the fiber axis, which makes them incredibly strong.
The low-weight aramid fabric is designed with a twill pattern of 2×2 and can be easily applied to any surface. It is an excellent choice for low-density composite parts that require resistance to impact and fire. It is best to use thermosetting resins like epoxy or vinyl ester with this fabric. Aramid fabric is widely used for hand contact applications, as well as infusion/vacuum or RTM processes.
The roll of aramid fabric is 120 cm wide and has a yarn density of 1580 dtex.
This fabric is made of very lightweight aramid fibers and has a plain weave that can be easily adapted to any surface. It is perfect for applications where an ultra-lightweight composite part with a cosmetic finish is desired, as well as for applications where impact and fire resistance are important. It is recommended for use with thermosetting resins such as epoxy, vinyl ester, or urethane-acrylates (Crestapol). This fabric is commonly used in hand lay-up applications, vacuum infusion, or RTM/RTM light.
The roll width is 100 cm and the fabric is made of Kevlar® 49 T 965 yarn with a density of 21.5 tex for both the warp and weft. The weight of the fabric is 36 g/m².
