Optimal Storage and Longevity: Enhancing Performance with Continuous Filament Mat
Continuous Filament Mat (CFM) stands out for its exceptional conformability and ability to achieve outstanding translucency in panel applications. Made of continuous filaments randomly oriented without any binder, synthetic core, or stitched yarn, CFM offers numerous benefits across various applications.
In challenging applications, CFM exhibits good drapability and high-stretching capabilities, allowing for ease of conformability to complex contours. Its open mat structure ensures consistent resin distribution throughout the surface, resulting in a smooth appearance behind the gelcoat. Additionally, CFM provides excellent panel clarity and translucency due to the use of glass material, without the need for synthetic core or stitching. The continuous fibers in CFM offer high tensile and flexural performance to the final part, while the absence of an organic binder enhances smoke and fire resistance properties.
CFM is compatible with unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester, polyurethane, and epoxy resin systems, making it suitable for manufacturing complex shapes, translucent panels, and fire-retardant applications in various industries such as recreation, automotive, heavy truck, and commercial buildings.
Available worldwide, CFM comes in varying roll widths depending on the mat weight, with additional widths available upon request. Each roll is packaged on a 103mm internal diameter cardboard tube and wrapped with transparent stretch film for protection during storage and transportation.
To maintain product integrity, it is recommended to store CFM in a cool, dry area with temperatures between 10°C and 35°C and relative humidity between 35% and 85%. Products should remain in their original packaging until usage, and if stored below 15°C, they should be kept in the workshop within their original packaging for at least 24 hours prior to use to prevent condensation. While the packaging is not waterproof, proper protection from weather and water sources is advised. With proper storage, CFM has no known shelf life, but retesting after three years from the initial production date is recommended for optimal performance.
