Common Types of Fiberglass Mats

 

 

1. Glass Fiber Needle Mat

Glass fiber needle mat is widely used in carbon black, steel, non-ferrous metals, chemicals, incineration and other industries. In China, industrial filter materials are the main application areas of glass fiber needle mat.

Glass Fiber Needle Mat is used for car interior decoration, sound absorption, heat insulation, shock absorption, flame retardancy, etc.

It helps to reduce the weight of cars and effectively utilize space; needle mat can be compounded with recycled fiber and can be used as padding for roofs and doors, engine hoods (adhered to the inside), engine and compartment partitions, and luggage compartment padding.

 

Taking advantage of the heat preservation and heat insulation effects of the microporous properties of needle mat, it can be used for heat preservation and heat insulation of various heating parts in pipelines.

Taking advantage of the filtering and sound absorption effects of needle mat, it can be used for silencers and dust collectors of general gasoline engines in cars and motorcycles, and is widely used for sound insulation, moisture removal, and fire prevention in hotels, entertainment venues, and professional sound rooms.

 

In addition, glass fiber needle mat can also be used for geotextiles, insulating materials, etc.

 

 

2. Glass Fiber Continuous Filament Mat

Glass fiber continuous filament mat is made of continuous glass fiber strand as the main raw material.

This non-woven continuous strand mat containing non-soluble binder can be compatible with unsaturated polyester, epoxy, phenolic and polyurethane resins in non-filled or filled resin systems.

The product can be used in resin transfer molding (RTM) vacuum molding and pultrusion molding processes, such as automotive roof interiors and transformer insulation materials.

 

 

3. Glass Fiber Chopped Strand Mat

Glass Fiber Chopped Strand Mat is made of glass fiber chopped strands bonded by powder or emulsion binder.

Chopped strand mat is mainly used to process and make FRP products through hand lay-up, winding and compression molding processes.

Typical products include bathroom appliances, pipes, building materials, automobiles, furniture, cooling towers and other FRP products.

 

 

4. Glass Fiber Surface Mat

Glass fiber surface mat is mainly used for the surface of FRP products. The product itself has the characteristics of uniform fiber dispersion, soft texture, good fiber surface flatness, low glue content, fast resin penetration speed and good mold adhesion.

This product can significantly improve the surface corrosion resistance, pressure resistance and leakage resistance of the product, and has the advantages of long service life.

In addition, this product is also suitable for injection, molding and other FRP molding technologies.

 

 

5. Fiberglass Roofing Mat

RGM is a good base material for making SBS, APP modified asphalt waterproofing membranes and colored asphalt fiberglass tiles, and is free to reinforce the entire mat longitudinally, which fully improves the longitudinal tensile strength and tear resistance of the mat.

The tarpaulin made with RM series mat as the base material can overcome the shortcomings of tarpaulin such as high temperature flow, low temperature brittle cracking, and easy aging, making the tarpaulin excellent in weather resistance, enhanced in anti-leakage, and extended in service life.

Therefore, it is an ideal base material for roofing mat and other materials. At the same time, RGM series mat can also be used as the base material of the thermal insulation layer of the house.

 

 

6. Untwisted Roving Composite Mat

Untwisted roving composite mat can be applied to unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl resin, phenolic resin and epoxy resin, etc. This product is widely used in FRP extrusion and drawing process, hand lay-up process and resin transfer molding process, etc.

 

Untwisted roving composite mat is most widely used in shipbuilding industry, and its main end products are: FRP hull, automobile shell, plate, refrigeration equipment, car door and profile, etc.

Untwisted roving composite mat is a glass fiber mat sheet made of untwisted roving composite layer of uniform non-directional flat chopped strands, and then stitched with coil structure.

The product can be used in resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum bag molding, compression molding, injection molding and SRIM molding processes.

 

 

9. Glass Fiber Stitched Composite Mat

Stitched composite mat can be applied to unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl resin, phenolic resin and epoxy resin, etc. This product is widely used in FRP extrusion and drawing process, hand lay-up process and resin transfer molding process, etc.

 

Stitched Composite Mat is most widely used in the shipbuilding industry, and its main end products include: FRP hulls, automobile shells, panels, refrigeration equipment, car doors and profiles, etc.

 

Stitched Composite Mat is a glass fiber mat sheet made of untwisted coarse yarns arranged in parallel in one direction at 0, 90° or ±45°, and then composited with a layer of evenly laid short-cut raw yarns, and then stitched with a coil structure.

 

 

10. Glass Fiber Needle-Punched Composite Mat

Needle-punched composite mat is a new type of glass fiber reinforced material made by needle-punching short chopped strands evenly distributed on a woven base fabric.

This product does not contain adhesives or other stitching lines, and has the characteristics of good mold filling and mold covering, high three-dimensional strength, fast penetration, and easy degassing.

It is suitable for hand lay-up, pultrusion, winding, GMT, RTM and other molding processes.

 

 

11. Air Purification Glass Fiber Fluffy Filter Mat

Air purification glass fiber fluffy filter mat is made of glass fiber and is in a fluffy state. Therefore, it has a large dust holding capacity and a long service life, and is an excellent material for primary air filtration.
