RTM Robot Customization Project

 

The patented RTM process was developed for the manufacture of monolithic and hybrid components:

• The fully automated, sensor-based RTM injection molding process enables the production of complex parts in a wide range of materials and geometries in a single process, while maintaining excellent surface quality.
• Various requirements regarding component properties can be easily and quickly implemented.
• When using the RTM process, there are almost no restrictions on the material complexity of hybrid structural parts, so the creative freedom in geometry and design is extraordinary!
• The time-consuming and labor-intensive work steps of connecting and gluing multiple individual components are eliminated. This significantly reduces the frequency of errors in the manufacturing process.
• More importantly: the strength of the interfaces of commonly used parts in the assembly is significantly improved.

 

RTM-Robot Advantages

1. The innovative RTM robot production method allows the design and manufacture of highly complex structural parts.

 

 

2. The RTM robot method provides the production of complex geometric structures, which can integrate many functions into one part. For example, when designing a production mold, wiring or metal or plastic inserts can be arranged in place. (Figure: Integration of radiator/ventilation pipes in the chassis area).

 

 

3. Depending on the viscosity of the resin and the penetration rate of the various reinforcing materials, only relatively low filling cavity pressures are required. This allows very large workpieces to be produced at very low locking pressures.

 

 

4. Both sides of an RTM part have a flawless surface determined by the quality of the mold and manufacturing process. This can be further improved by applying a gel coat to the mold on both surfaces.
