What is Carbon Felt? What are the uses of Carbon Fiber Felt?

 

Carbon Felt is a kind of felt made of carbon fiber. It has a broad spectrum of adsorption, large capacity, and good adsorption of inorganic gases. Carbon felt also has the characteristics of permanent flame retardancy, no melting and dripping, no burning, no black smoke, no toxicity, curling and carbonization, and maintaining flame retardant properties after multiple washings.

 

At present, there are three main types of carbon felt in the world: polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon felt, viscose-based carbon felt, and asphalt-based carbon felt.

 

The largest domestic production and consumption is polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based carbon felt. Specifically, it is divided into PAN-based acrylic carbon felt, PAN-based raw fiber carbon felt, PAN-based pre-oxidized fiber carbon felt, and PAN-based carbon fiber carbon felt. The corresponding raw materials are PAN-based acrylic short fiber, PAN-based carbon fiber raw fiber short fiber, PAN-based carbon fiber pre-oxidized fiber short fiber, and PAN-based carbon fiber chopped fiber.

 

Uses of Carbon Felt

 

1. Daily Life

Purification of drinking water – removal of hardness, heavy metal ions, bacteria, residual chlorine, decolorization, and deodorization in water;

Air purification – removal of indoor smoke and harmful substances produced by smoking, removal of various odors produced by food, and removal of harmful substances floating in the air.

 

2. Environmental Governance

Air purification – environmental governance of production workshops in chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber, shoe, chemical fiber, food and other industries, purification of organic solvents and various volatile air pollution, improvement of working environment, and production of gas masks and masks;

 

Water purification – used in drinking water industry, purification of beverages, beer, direct drinking water and various food water, and water purification of circulation systems.

 

Wastewater treatment – wastewater generated by various pollution sources such as chemical industry, electroplating, metallurgy, printing and dyeing, papermaking, leather making, medical treatment, life, etc., to remove organic matter, bacteria, organic dyes, etc. in water, especially toxic and harmful wastewater containing high-valent metal ions.

 

3. Organic Solvent Recovery: used for separation and intensive purification and recovery of (gas and liquid) solvents in chemical, pharmaceutical, shoemaking, painting, chemical fiber, rubber, paint and other industries, while recycling, the environment is treated.

 

4. For the Recovery of Heavy Metals: separation and recovery of waste products and waste gas containing heavy metals (gold, silver, platinum, etc.), ACF (activated carbon fiber) can be used to integrate concentration, adsorption, reduction and separation.
